Dylan and Mommy go to NC

This past weekend Dylan and I had the opportunity to spend some time with some much missed friends and family. (Aaron had a golf weekend in Georgia, so Dylan and I got kicked out. Just kidding we left willingly, 12 guys and 5 rounds of golf, I'll pass!)

My best friend from high school, Lindsey, took some amazing pictures of Dylan, which I can't wait to share with everyone...stay tuned! If any one lives in the Charlotte area, she is fantastic, I can't say enough about her! You can see a sneak peek of Dylan's photo shoot on her blog: www.lindseyturner.blogspot.com. You can also check out her website: http://www.lindseyturnerphotography.com/ to see more of her amazing work.

Dylan and I also got the pleasure of spending time with my dear childhood friend, Mollie and her sweet Caroline. Sorry Tony, but I think Dylan and Caroline are in love! Check out the picture below. They were so cute together. They played all afternoon and took simultaneous naps while Mollie and I got to catch up. It was so nice!

How cute are they?!!!

While Dylan and I were visiting Grammy and Papaw, my aunt, Terri and her boyfriend Phillipe, and my uncle Pepe and aunt Rosie were also visiting my parents, and Joey came on Saturday...we had a packed house and it was GREAT! We all had such a good time laughing and just spending time together! I can't wait to see everyone again! Below are a few random pictures from our visit.

Dylan's latest stats

Dylan just had his 15 month check up yesterday (he's 16 months, but I postponed his appointment until after our vacation). Dylan did great, he weighed in at 24 lbs, 6 oz (50%) and 32.5 inches long (75%). Doctor says he is going to be a tall guy, we'll see. He also got 3 shots! I think I hate the shots just as much as he does. Dylan gave the nurse the meanest look on our way out. The nurse asked him for a high five, but he wasn't having it. It was kind of funny, I mean would you happily give someone a high five who just poked you 3 times with a needle?!!! He is also doing great developmentally. He passed all his little tests with flying colors...I always get a little nervous, but he did great. Am I a proud mommy or what?!!!

What a BLAST!

What an awesome vacation! I must admit I was extremely nervous about leaving Dylan, but after I found out that my cell phone would work at ALL times I was OK. I called Dylan at least twice a day (we will see what my phone bill is next month...Ahhh!)

Anyways, our trip started off to a crazy start. We boarded the ship at around 12:30 pm and by 5:00pm I was a little sick and took a little nap. I have been out of the drinking scene for about 2 years now so it took me a little while to catch up with my counterparts. I awoke about 2 hours later and we were already sailing! Oops, I guess I missed the grand send off! Needless to say, my fellow travelers were ready for dinner and bed. Day two was great. We spent the day at sea, sunbathing and again enjoying a few cocktails! We ended the night with Lauren and Jean Paul knocking on our door with a bottle of Dom Perignon and chocolate covered strawberries--YUM to celebrate how much fun we were having! Day three - Belize; not our favorite stop. Aaron was feeling a little under-the-weather, but managed to tandem out to Belize to check it out. The food was yucky and the people a little scary so we decided to go back to the ship and hang out. It was perfect, we had the ship to ourselves and had a blast! Day four - Cozumel, Mexico! Let's just say I was boosted! I had never been to Mexico so I was excited to see what it was all about. Lauren heard of a great place to go so we jumped in a taxi and headed out. Our cab driver was great, he told us of a place, Mr. Sanchos, where we could go to the beach, snorkel, and have drinks and do everything without paying a cover, so we decided to go for it. The boys got in the water first and could not believe how many fish were swimming all around them, so the girls decided to take a look for ourselves. There was this crazy lady there with all of her snorkel gear on throwing bread at all the fish. As she began to throw the bread in our direction hundreds of fish began jumping all around us! Who needs to pay all of this money for an excursion--all you need is a crazy lady with some bread! After a couple of hours at the beach, we wanted to see more of Cozumel so Carlos n' Charlies here we come! OK, this place is OUT-OF-CONTROL!!! There were Mexican men pouring shots in every one's mouth and another playing pranks on everyone--hilarious! After lunch we decided to try and find another spot and we came across, The Waffles House Beach Club, another great place. We all got to snorkel and ended our visit to Cozumel. Next stop - Key West, FL!!! We all LOVE Key West! My recommendation to any one who wants to go on a beautiful, fun vacation, Key West is the place to go! We had an amazing lunch at Sloppy Joes, enjoyed drinks at Hogs Breath, and some laughs at a bar named Rick's. Afterwards, we boarded the ship and off we went to our final destination - home (Ft. Lauderdale). We enjoyed another bottle of Champagne as the sun set on Key West! What a finale to an amazing trip!

The next morning I was very anxious to get home. Although the car ride home was only about 30 minutes, it felt like hours. I wanted to jump out of the car and run to Dylan as he run towards me where we would have this long hug followed by a million smackers (that's what I call kisses) and everything would be perfect....not exactly the way it went! Dylan did not have the same dream. My son wanted NOTHING to do with me! Yes, you read it right, he would not even look at me for about 2 hours. (I think he was punishing my for leaving him, and it worked!) Let's just say I was heart-broken, although nothing made me happier than knowing how much Dylan and Grammy bonded. He LOVES his Grammy and Papaw! After a couple of hours Dylan warmed up to me and forgave me. Thank goodness, because I don't think I could ever have left him again!
