The Ultimate Blog Slacker!

Yes, I admit it, I am the ultimate blog slacker, but for good reason! Here's an update on what has been going on with each of us as well as random pictures from the past month...

Aaron and Elena...
We found out we are being blessed with another baby BOY! We are so very excited and I am so happy that Dylan will have a little friend forever! Now the baby name search begins! I had my girl name set in stone, but the boy name is a little more complicated. I thought I had the name down, but Aaron isn't 100%, so we will see!

Other exciting news...we closed on our house!!! We are so excited!!! We have decided to move in after the holidays as to cause the least amount of stress possible!

We are busy preparing for the holidays. We have family coming in this weekend and staying until Tuesday and then more family coming in on Christmas day. After Christmas we are going to Miami to see the rest of our families and spend New Years there. When we return we have one week to move! Crazy!!!

Dylan at the Christmas tree farm searching for the perfect tree! He absolutely loved tree hunting!

Dylan with his favorite Uncle Pepe and Aunt Rosie ("Wosie" as Dylan likes to call her)

Most of Aaron's family for Thanksgiving! It is an impressive crowd!

Dylan...

A lot has been going on with our little one! He turned two on the 24th!!! It seems like the day he woke up on his birthday he started talking (in complete sentences) and has not stopped ever since! He cracks Aaron and I up constantly and just love hearing what may come out of his mouth next! His latest 2 year check up stats are as follows...weight 27.7 lbs (50%) and height 36 inches (80%)...tall and thin! The doctor came in and said "Hi Dylan, how are you today?" Dylan replied "I good dotor, doe shot peeze" (I'm good doctor, no shot please...it was too funny) She laughed and said there is definitely no problem with his vocabulary. He showed off all of his skills and mommy was very proud. He still loves to eat a variety of food and has become extremely more active if that is at all possible!

My sweet little munchkin!

Tower of doughnuts for his 2nd birthday cake! Dylan LOVES doughnuts!

"Mommy, are you sure, chocolate and sprinkles?! I LOVE my birthday!!!"

Big news with Dylan...we have started potty training and so far so good. He has one or two accidents a day, but overall he is doing great! Next comes the big bed, a new house and bye-bye paci (he still uses one to go to bed at night)! Poor baby a lot of changes in a short amount of time before the baby comes. The doctor said it was important for us make whatever changes by February, because he may resent the baby (example, why is my little brother sleeping in my bed?!) Yeah, that may cause a problem, so we are testing out the new bed when we move into the new house we will see how it goes although I wish I could keep him in the crib forever!

WE DID IT!!!

We finally bought a house!!! I still can't believe it! After 6 months of really searching, many offers not accepted, and many tears shed with frustration and anxiety...we did it! We put in an offer and the same day they accepted, no counter-offer, no surprises, nothing...amazing! We close in the middle of December. Now comes a whole new set of stresses...moving right before Christmas, packing while preggers and chasing a 2 year old, and trying my hardest not to kill my husband! Aaron is the type of guy who likes to do everything himself, including moving! He says he will recruit a couple of guys from the team and have them come help and move all of the furniture...lets just say this scares the heck out of me. Yes, my husband is strong and more than capable of lifting heavy furniture, but moving with care...not so much! Yesterday was our first disagreement about the house...I want movers and he doesn't. Guess what...I won!!! The only stipulation is that I have to organize everything and instruct the movers. He wants nothing to do with it...not too bad of a compromise since that is exactly what I wanted. Oh, isn't marriage grand?! Just kidding honey, thank you and I love you! I will keep everyone up to date on the house as we go along! (My camera is still in the shop so pictures will come soon!)

Random updates

Sorry I have been such a slacker in the blogging department, but I've been pretty busy. Aaron and I got the pleasure of taking care of my 3 year old nephew, Jack, for 11 days while his parents went to London with the New Orleans Saints (JP, Jack's dad, works for the Saints). Dylan was in absolute heaven having a constant playmate! They were so very cute together. Everything one did the other just followed along! Grandma Linda and aunt Kristen came to visit Jack and Dylan for the weekend and we had a great time! I'm so excited...Kristen bought her wedding dress while she was here! She looked breathtaking, and of course I cried! (Just a side note...I picked out the dress!!!)

The morning after Jack left Aaron went on his annual golf trip with his friends. I think Dylan really wanted to torture me because he woke up with a terrible cold the morning Aaron left and was up all night, every night he was gone! Let's just say being pregnant and taking care of a 3 year old and 2 year old for 11 days and then taking care of a sick 2 year old alone for 5 days after is quite exhausting!!! Of course the day Aaron returned Dylan felt much better and decided it was time to sleep through the night again! Aaron decided that it was only fair to give me a much needed break and on Friday I went and got a manicure and pedicure (one of my favorite things to do) and went shopping ALONE (which I haven't done in a very long time and is another one of my favorite things to do)! I bought plenty of maternity clothes for the season and shopped until I got home and literally dropped! I took a nap, which is something I never get the chance to do and woke up to a loving husband and baby! What a great day...THANKS HONEY!!!

What's new with Dylan? Well Dylan is almost 2! I can't believe it, in a couple of weeks my little angel will be 2 whole years old...let's just say, I'm in denial! He is cuter and sweeter than ever! He is talking up a storm. His favorite sayings are "What are you doing?, where are you going?, What's that?, Okay, mommy, and last but certainly not least WHY?" I think he is a little young for this but oh my word, every time he asks a question and you give him what you think is a very clear answer he comes back with "Why?" every once in a while he will say "oh or okay,' but most of the time it's "why?" He is still a great eater, he loves meatballs, chicken, peas, carrots (with ranch to dip) he loves dipping things, corn on the cob, and applesauce (which he insists on feeding to himself!) Everything is now "I do it." His favorite thing to do is kick the ball with daddy. Aaron said the other day, "I never thought I could actually play pass with Dylan at 2, but this great." I definitely think Dylan is following after his daddy's footsteps! Dylan was a skeleton for Halloween and was so stinking adorable! I will post pictures soon (my camera is in the shop getting fixed so it might be a little while). We didn't go trick-or-treating, we just gave out candy and he thought it was great. There was a little boy dressed as Diego and Dylan kept yelling "Diego, Diego" as if Diego really came to his house...too funny!

As for me, I am still recovering from a very busy month, but overall feel good. We find out whether we are having a boy or a girl on the 4th which is so exciting. We wanted to find out before Thanksgiving, but they wanted to wait until 20 weeks, sorry fam! My cravings with this pregnancy are soup (any kind), blueberry bagels, and salad. Not too bad considering with Dylan my cravings included a visit to Dunkin doughnuts and Burger King (gross I know)! I think we are having a girl and Aaron thinks it's a boy...we will see!

Sorry for such a long post, I promise the next one with consist of mostly pictures and less catch-up! We miss everyone very much and can't wait for Thanksgiving! We are renting a 31 foot RV and traveling to Florida with Kristen and Adam! It should be lots of fun!

99 Balloons

After wiping the tears from my eyes after yesterday's Oprah, I decided that for those who did not get the opportunity to watch it must see this story of a father and mothers love for their miracle baby...

Baby Hume Update!

We went to the doctor's office yesterday for our 12 week check up and got to hear Baby Hume's little heartbeat! It was amazing. I remember when I heard Dylan's heartbeat for the first time. The doctor said that everything was right on track!

Dylan Pics

Here are a few random pictures of Dylan taken over the last couple of months!

Dylan's first attempt playing putt-putt!

Yes, we bribe our child to sit still for a hair cut! Here's Daddy attempting to give Dylan his 2nd haircut! Dylan was cool as long as you didn't touch his Popsicle!

Dylan showing off his new do later that night!

We went to our favorite sushi restaurant and the ladies there LOVE Dylan! One of them gave him a lollipop (blue of all colors) and he was in heaven!

"Mommy, if you want me to behave, just give me one of these!"

Dylan put on his own shirt after his bath! How cute is he?! Too funny!

He tried to fix it but had a little trouble!

Daddy and Dylan walking down the sidewalk at our monthly Alive after 5 street festival!
Like father, like son!

Dylan has been melting his Daddy and I heart lately. He is so lovable and has just recently started saying I love you ("wuv you"), which I must say is by far the sweetest thing in the world. His favorite thing to do lately is hide. He takes the cushions off the couch and hides and yells for you to get him! It is too funny, if you wait too long he stands up and says..."surprise!" He is still extremely active! He loves to play golf, soccer and football! Every time he throws a football he yells "touchdown...go gators!" It drives Aaron crazy...but I love it! Dylan loves to go to the park and just be outside. My dear friend Mollie told me about a show on PBS called Super Why! and it has become Dylan's favorite! His favorite food is still peas, chicken and watermelon and luckily he really eats a great variety of food! After talking to so many of my friends I feel extremely lucky that he is not a picky eater. Aaron and I are so extremely blessed to have a healthy, sweet baby boy and pray the same for our soon-to-be little angel!

BIG NEWS!!!

I am so excited to finally share with everyone....we are having another baby!!! We are beyond excited, although the morning sickness (or should I say all day sickness is not so fun)! It has been quite a challenge chasing Dylan and gathering the energy to just function. It's amazing how we mothers forget the yuckiness of early pregnancy when we look at our little bundles of joy, but trust me when I say it is well worth it! We are so very blessed!

There must be something in the water because I have six girlfriends who are expecting! How incredible to share this journey of motherhood with so many close friends! Congratulations to all of my preggie buddies who are going through the same wonderful experience!!!

I will update soon on what has been new with Dylan and the Humes! Let's just say we have been BUSY!

What's new with Dylan?

Well Dylan has been up to a lot lately! He is definitely one of the most active 20 months olds I have ever seen. He doesn't stop, that is unless Go, Diego, Go is on (which is still his favorite show)! I have been watching the Olympics and what do you know, I think Dylan might just become an Olympian one day. Don't ask me in what sport though, he is still perfecting his skills! We were watching gymnastics the other day with Kristen and Adam, who stopped by for a night on their way home to Charlotte from Florida, and Dylan tried to copy the men on TV...too funny. The biggest news with Dylan would be that we are starting to potty train and every night before his bath he pee-pees in the potty! He is so proud of himself; it's just too cute. He is definitely expanding his vocabulary also. He tries his hardest to form complete sentences, but it is still jumbled in his own language. He gets a little frustrated with me when I don't understand, but I'm trying! He will repeat the alphabet and numbers, which is so darn cute! His favorite foods are still green peas, hot dogs, applesauce and watermelon, but the kid will really eat anything! He just got his second haircut and he now looks like a little man! (I'll post pics soon, the pics are still on my camera.) Dylan loves to sing and dance. The little guy hears music and just starts dancing. Dylan really is a joy to raise. Aaron and I are so very blessed and love him to pieces!

As for news with us, we have been househunting and going crazy! I'll keep everyone posted!

Congratulations Kristen & Adam!

Aaron's sister, Kristen, got engaged last weekend to a great guy, Adam! We are so happy for them. They are planning on getting married next summer. Congrats & we can't wait!

We're Back!

Hello everyone! We are finally back from our 3 week long vacation and I think I'm ready for a vacation from our vacation! Ha:) Here's a recap along with a few pictures from our trip.

Our plans changed slightly before we left due to Dylan getting very sick. We were supposed to visit my parents in NC the week before we left but Dylan got a really high fever (104 to be exact) so they came to us instead and off to the doctor we went. Our doctor said he just had a sore throat and to just give him Motrin for the fever along with some TLC. Our little peanut's fever lasted 5 days and then got a rash all over his body...poor baby! He was miserable! We thought we were going to have to postpone our trip, but thank God the day before we left our little guy was doing much better!

Here is Dylan snug as a bug on our long journey (9 1/2 hours) to Hollywood, FL

Check out how packed our car was! Poor Dylan and Victor were surrounded! Thank goodness for portable DVD players, Sesame Street CDs, and snacks galore!

Aaron made great timing and we arrived right on schedule! We stayed in a beautiful condo less than a block from the ocean. We stayed there for two weeks and different family members came and went throughout the two weeks. We had a GREAT time! Dylan absolutely LOVED the ocean and pool! He was fearless; he would jump in the pool and ask us NOT to catch him...CRAZY, HUH?!!! We could not believe it! We are definitely putting him in swim lessons ASAP! One of our friends had an underwater camera and took a pic of Dylan and Aaron underwater that is hilarious. I am waiting for them to send it and I'll post!

Here are various pictures...

Dylan showing off his water skills! Proud Uncle Brian watching on.

Daddy showing Dylan the ocean. They were so precious together!

Jack, Kaylyn and Dylan (Dylan's cousin Jack and his 3rd cousin Kaylyn)

Aaron dancing with his beautiful grandma!

Aaron turned 30 years old on July 8th. For months I have been very stressed out about what I was going to do for his 30th and how I was going to plan something from so far away. I was sure everything was going to work out when Aaron adminantly squated every idea. He really doesn't like all the attention that a birthday brings and was very clear that he wanted nothing done. I tried and pleaded, but failed and since I love my husband and love being married to him I decided to oblige to his request. Aaron's wonderful brother and Dylan's godfather, Kevin thought Aaron's request was ridiculous and planned a very nice dinner at Mai Kai (a Polynesian restaurant with a live fire show!) We had a great time although Aaron was not thrilled with Kevin after he had to go on stage and dance! He was such a great sport!
HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY HONEY! I LOVE YOU!!!

Here are a few pictures from the evening...

May all of your wishes come true honey!

After two incredibly fun weeks at the beach with our dear family and friends we went to our old house for another week. Kevin has been renting out our old house from us and he was gracious enough to have us there for a week. Kevin celebrated his birthday (July 15th) by throwing a Crawfish Bash. Nicole (Kevin's girlfriend) ordered 30 lbs of live crawfish and a great time was had by all!

Here are a couple of pics of Kevin's Crawfish Birthday Bash...

It was wonderful spending so much time with our friends and family, but we were definitely happy to be home!

We had the best time with my best friend, Jill and her husband Bobby and their sweet little boy Collin. The boys were so cute together. Collin followed and observed Dylan all weekend...it was precious! Dylan was so excited all weekend to see that he had a house full of people to play with. Jill and I even got a much needed girls night out which was great. I can't wait until the next time we get together!

Can you say sweaty?!!!

I love cute, funny faces!

He Loves Me!

Yes, it's true, my son LOVES me! Aaron recently got a new office away from home (he has been working from the house since we moved, but with a rambunctious toddler it wasn't easy getting any work done) and all of a sudden I have become Dylan's favorite person! Yes, it took 18 months and Aaron leaving for 8 hours a day in order for this to occur, but I am not complaining; I am eating it up! I no longer have to ask Dylan for a kiss, he just comes up to me and lays one on me. When Aaron comes home he does get excited and greets him lovingly, but then it's back to me! I just thought I would share that my son FINALLY realizes that I should have been his favorite all along...just kidding honey, I love you!!!

Upcoming Chaos!

We will definitely be busy for the next month or so. My mother-in-law is coming in town tomorrow with Aaron's Aunt Patti for an upcoming wedding in Savannah. They're flying here and then driving down for the wedding. Afterwards she is going to be spending some time with us and especially Dylan. I have missed her very much since we moved and am looking forward to her spending some time with us.

Then my cutie cousin Victor (10) is coming (Monday) to spend some time with us for the summer. He is flying solo and coming for a few weeks! Victor is one of Dylan's favorite people in the whole world! Every time I tell Dylan that Victor is coming he starts clapping and yelling! It is so cute! Victor is very excited and so are we!

Then on Friday (June 20) my best friend, Jill, her husband, Bobby and her son, Collin (15 months) are coming! I am so excited, I haven't seen Jill since Dylan was 7 months old, almost a year! I can't to see how the boys interact!

I am then going to try and visit my mom in NC so that she can spend a little time with Victor and Dylan before we go to Miami for 3 weeks! Victor is going to drive down with us which will be a BIG help since we haven't had a big road trip with Dylan yet. We are staying at the beach for 2 weeks with all of Aaron's family and then we will be in our old house for the last week of our vacation!

I am so excited about all of the upcoming guests and vacations but am tired already and it hasn't even started yet! I'll try and post pictures along the way.

Dylan’s 18 months old!

Dylan just went to the doctors on Monday for his 18 month check up. I was so excited…this was our first visit with NO shots! He is doing fantastic…33 ¾ inches long (80%) and 25 lbs 11 oz (50%). Still tall and thin! He has been up to a lot lately! He is really starting to talk a lot more, which is adorable. He is climbs everything from chairs to stairs. He is definitely an active little munchkin! Below are some of Dylan’s favorites.

Dylan showing off his pearly whites!

Activities: throwing a football (seriously, I have never seen a baby throw a ball like him, it’s a little freaky!) dribble the soccer ball (he has been doing this for a couple of months now, but the little guy is getting faster by the day!), go golfing with Daddy (he thinks Daddy is the coolest person in the world), and coloring (with a pen only…don’t ask me why, if you give him a crayon he will use it for a second and then ask for a pen, strange I know).

Our little Marino

Like father, like son!

Books: Polar Bear, Polar Bear what do you hear? and I will Never, not Ever eat a Tomato

Foods: salmon, green peas, croutons, watermelon and birthday cake ice cream from Brusters

Place: the park and just being outside. (As long as Dylan is awake he is begging to go outside!)

Sliding at our church's little playground

TV show: Go, Diego, Go! (all he has to do is hear the theme music and he starts yelling, “Diego” repeatedly) I totally don’t mind him watching Dora the Explorer or Go, Diego, Go because I feel like I get away with teaching him Spanish without really having to teach him, lazy, huh?!
I know, I know, I will practice teaching him more I promise.

Miscellaneous favorites:
playing with buckles (any buckle from his high chair to his stroller the kid is obsessed with buckles, don't ask me why or how we are still trying to figure him out!) and brushing his teeth (he asks for his teeth to be brushed every morning and night after his bath...I think he just likes the taste of the toothpaste (strawberry-banana, gross I know!)).

Dylan playing with the buckles in his stroller
